Who is macc?
Macc stands for Millar Addition Citizen's Coalition. We are a very energetic neighbourhood organization which was originally formed in 2007 as a citizen response to the City’s plans for both a dangerous goods route and a
wood burning energy plant directly bordering (and entering) our neighbourhood. We organized a quick and well informed response, which garnered support throughout the community at large. Macc is currently involved in a project that we believe is very positive for the city as a whole, the proposal of a
Green Corridor to connect the downtown core to the Fraser River and the Heritage Rivers Trail system.
We value our quality of life, which includes nearby rivers, parks, trails and green space. We consider ourselves an urban downtown neighbourhood where one can easily walk and cycle to work downtown. The Millar Addition is also a residential neighbourhood where
children can play on the street or in local parks.
As a neighborhood organization we are better able to address any
needs or problems that come our way. Issues that are important to us
are improvements to air quality, a healthier downtown and a more informed and respectful dialogue with the City. We wish to be communicated with in regard to issues that affect us and to have a say in our community planning.
Macc welcomes anyone and everyone in the Millar Addition to be part of
our group - and to bring fresh ideas to help us make this an even greater place to live. We have different ways to communicate with a diverse group of people, allowing us to be very inclusive.
We also welcome dialogue with other community organizations.
