Millar Addition Citizen's Coalition
About our community
The Millar Addition is a historic neighbourhood in Prince George. Our roots go back to the early settlement at South Fort George, along the banks of the Fraser River.
Today, our neighbourhood is home to many people who choose to live close to the downtown, and close to the trails and rivers that define the borders of our city. It is an area that is full of life, of families of all ages and income levels, interests and backgrounds.
We live adjacent to Fort George Park, which bustles with activities especially throughout the warmer months. The Heritage Rivers Trail system passes directly through our neighbourhood, serving as a connector route for cyclists, runners and walkers. We welcome people from all over the City to this area to enjoy the amenities.
About MACC
Millar Addition Citizen’s Coalition is a pro-active citizens group that
aims to keep informed about issues which affect our quality of life,
and to enact positive change for the benefit of all citizen’s who live
and work downtown.
We held our first community clean-up in spring 2008 taking pride in our green space. We also are promoting the concept of a green corridor linking the downtown to the Fraser River through our neighbourhood. Starting a Block Watch program is our latest initiative.
The Millar Addition is also affected by industry situated within the bowl, and we are actively working to improve the negative impacts that this has on our quality of life. This includes poor air quality caused by pulp mills and the Husky oil refinery, and increased CN Rail traffic, which has resulted in significant increases in toxins introduced into our airshed from the burning of diesel fuel, in addition to the noise 24 hours a day.
There are many ways to get involved - please contact us.
